Description: The BMW M3 GTR Strassenversion is a bit of an enigma. In 2001, BMW released the V8 M3 GTR to race in ALMS GT in the USA, and, due to the homologation requirements for this “prototype” race car, BMW needed to build 10 road going cars. BMW completed the builds in just 12 months, and the Street Version made its first public appearance in October 2001. But the actual number of cars built does remain somewhat of a mystery. Some sources say all 10, some 8, some as low as 6, with rumours that 3 remain. Despite its low build numbers, the marketing team at BMW M still produced a limited quantity of sales brochures – which are now almost as elusive as the cars themselves. This is only the second one we've sourced this year.
