Description: This darling Betty-Lou Nichols head vase features a young girl with pipe curls in a large white bonnet. Her dress is blue with white polka dots and both the bib of the dress and the brim of the bonnet have been incised to create a pattern. I believe this to be an unusual head vase in that most Betty-Lou Nichols pieces I have seen have closed eyes. The eyes on this one are brown with black irises and a white highlight. The lashes are black and uneven but I do not think they have been broken...just designed that way. The piece stands about 6 " tall, is almost 5 1/2" wide across the brim of her hat and is about 4" deep. It's a nice, clean piece having never been used as a vase and has the normal amount of crazing but no chips or other damage that I can find. The bottom of the vase has the name "Betty-Lou Nichols"and the name of the piece: "Becky " Add this great little vase to your collection of head vases, California pottery or Betty Lou Nichols.
