Description: OUTSTANDING and very rare c.1895 composite cabinet card photograph of Principal Cherokee Indian Chiefs from the period after their forced removal to Oklahoma Territory during the Trail of Tears in 1838. Each Chiefs period of leadership is noted alongside his name. Missing from the composite photograph is Stand Watie, who served a very controversial period as Principal Chief during the Civil War (1862-1866). Watie and his followers fought alongside the Confederate States and was probably omitted from this photograph on purpose. William P.
