Description: The Patch: This Auction is for 1 WWII Vintage Army Ground Forces patch with a white back. This patch is in good condition. It has a very nice white backing. This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic. The History: The Army Ground Forces was established on March 9th, 1942 as the successor to the General Head Quarters, US Army. It’s Headquarters was located at the Army War College (Fort Lesley J. McNair). Its objective was to provide ground forces units that were properly organized, trained, and equipped for combat operations. General George C. Marshall was the commander of the GHQ, but the actual operations were directed by Major General Lesley McNair. The Army Ground Forces administered nearly 5 million officers and men and had absorbed approximately 80% of the Army’s battle casualties. Ground Force personnel made over 40 major landings on hostile shores and took over 3.5 million prisoners.Please read my auction requirements.
