Description: For sale we have a excellent large beautiful antique early 1800's J. Wedgwood Hibernia pattern Historical Staffordshire transferware platter. This large beauty is in a rich purple and blue coloration with no fading or color loss seen. This is a very eye catching color combination. The inner scene on this platter is very busy nautical and romantic style scene with tall ships in a port city, showing a dock with a reclining soldier and with people walking about. The outer border scene on this platter has a rich purple vine and floral pattern. This platter has a excellent delicate attractive scalloped outer edge with some slight glaze loss or usage roughness on the bottom left outer edge. We pictured this small area. The finish is bright and glossy on the entire platter with no dullness or areas of wear. The back of the platter is marked in ink stamp J. Wedgwood Hibernia with a Hand, Tall Ship and a Globe. This platter is large at approx. 15 1/2 across and approx. 13 1/4 " top to bottom and the height at approx. 1 1/2". This excellent large platter is a fresh to the market example and it's in original untouched condition. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, deep scratches or scuffs. There are no repairs or stains. We only see a very few lite thin short usage and a little spotty glaze usage wear on the outer lower left edge of the platter. We also see some overall fine crazing. We pictured these areas and they are mentioned for complete accuracy. What a excellent survivor and rare early piece of early English Staffordshire Transferware. This would make a great addition or upgrade to a early Antique Staffordshire Platter or Transferware China collection. This beauty will be packed very well for safe shipment and insured.
