Description: Here's an interesting and beautiful shaker chair that I believe is hand made as the proportions are all close but not symmetrical. It is mostly oak but the slats are a soft wood probably pine but no way to know for sure. The seat appears to be fairly new and is a gorgeous color. When I got the chair someone had painted it battleship grey which was very unappealing. I decided to hand strip it back to the original wood and it now is quite pretty in it's old world loveliness. I spent a few good hours bringing this back and there are still many hints of blue that are embedded in the wood from the grey paint. I did not machine sand it so it is still a bit rough and rustic but for me it's in a really good state and I hope some other people will see it that way as well. Also I could not strip underneath the seat so you may still get a small glimpse of the old grey. It's a great chair that would look fabulous in a number of settings. These Shaker chairs with their natural elements and materials have a simplicity that is beautiful and yet still functional and durable. This one has wooden dowels, a wonderful patina, a lovely contrast of colors and old world charm in spades. Let's find it a new country house or beach house for the next leg of its journey. Thanks for looking.
