Description: Antique Jones Spool Sewing Machine Rounded "Donut" Bobbin - Circa 1900. Made by Jones Sewing Machine Company in Guide Bridge, in the Manchester area, England. The Jones Spool sewing machine is a clone or copy of the Wheeler & Wilson D9 machine and is a full "Rotary hook" machine. Jones' modified version of the machine was patented by Jones on October 4, 1889. They were manufactured from 1889 to about 1930. I'm not sure, but this bobbin may also work in other Wheeler & Wilson D9 clones (but may not. I think the W&W D9 and some of the other cones has slightly larger bobbins). This bobbin was found along with other antique sewing machine parts (other machines and brands) dating from around 1900-1903. So, I am assuming the bobbin is from roughly the same time period. This is an original bobbin for the Jones Spool sewing machine, not a reproduction. It is in very good working condition with some slight pitting and tarnish commensurate with the age (around 120 years). It still has some old thread in it.It measures about 23mm (7/8") diameter and 7mm (1/4" wide). Please the second to last photo for complete dimensions. These rounded bobbins were known as "donut" or "bagel" bobbins. The last photo shows where this bobbin would mount in a Jones Spool machine.
