Description: Offered is this antique flow blue bread plate, made in the "Albany" pattern by W H Grindley & Co. of Staffordshire, England. The white plate is decorated with blue flowers and has a beaded, scalloped edge. The style of Grindley mark on the underside indicates the plate was made between 1891 and 1914. The mark also includes an American patent date but it is hard to read-looks like Oct 31st and either "90" or "00" to me (see last photo). There is also a printed and an impressed mark. This is a rare find; at the time of original listing, except for the other pieces in my eBay store, there were no other "Albany" plates and very few "Albany" pieces of any kind for sale on eBay. (Note that each plate in the pattern may have slight differences in flower placement, etc. from the others.) The plate is approx. 6 7/8" across from point to point. It is in very good condition; I see no chips or cracks. There are some light marks from use and a few surface bumps, spots, etc. Please excuse the reflection from the shiny surface in the photos! I have other antique Grindley flow blue pieces for sale, as well. Please take a look at them and at all of the other items in my eBay store!
