Description: Antique 1865 TAUSEND UND EINE NACHT Arabian Nights GERMAN Weil 700 Illustrations This is Tausend und eine Nacht (Thousand and One Nights, also known as Arabian Nights) translated from the Arabic into German by Dr. Gustav Weil. The set consists of four volumes, bound in two books, with over 700 in-text illustrations. It was published by Neufeld & Henius, Berlin, Germany. This is the sixth completely revised edition dated 1865. The first page of translator's Forward is pictured in the eighth photo and discusses the revisions. I've also pictured several of the Contents pages for those looking for specific tales. The books are hardcover with elaborately decorated spines and front boards. Volume I has 408 pages, Volume II, 411 pages, Volume III, 421 pages, and Volume IV, 362 pages. Book height is 10 3/4" by 7 1/4" wide. Combined, they will take up 4 1/4" of shelf space and weigh 10 1/2 lbs. The books are in overall Very Good condition with some fading to the bindings. There is a bookstore's small sticker at the top fore-edge corner of each book's front endpaper, and there is some very-light foxing to the preliminary pages of Volume I-II. For each book, there is no former-owner's bookplate, no writing inside, and no loose pages. These two heavy volumes will be mailed via USPS Media Mail and packed very carefully in a sturdy box.
