ANDREW JACKSON State of the Union Address re. Indian Removal Act 1830 Newspaper

Description: ANDREW JACKSON State of the Union Address re. Indian Removal Act 1830 Newspaper Offered is an original, collectible newspaper (NOT a copy/reproduction): HAMPSHIRE GAZETTE, Northampton, Massachusetts, Dec. 15, 1830   * President Andrew Jackson * State of the Union Address * Indian Removal Act Over half of the front page is taken up with: "Present State of the Indian Question" which is the controversial "Trail of Tears". Inside has the: "President's Message" being Jackson's state-of-the-union address. Actually about half of it due to the extreme length. Signed in type: Andrew Jackson. In it he announces his controversial plan concerning the Native Americans which would be spelled out in the Indian Removal Act of 1830: “...I suggest...the propriety of setting apart an ample district west of the Mississippi, & without the limits of any state...to be guaranteed to the Indian tribes as long as they shall occupy it...This emigration should be voluntary; for it would be as cruel as unjust to compel the aborigines to abandon the graves of their fathers...” and much more. This would initiate what would be known as the Trail of Tears. Four pages, nice condition. Please Note: All of our offerings are 100% authentic! We do not offer reprints or reproductions of any kind. They are guaranteed to be original! Links to Archival Storage Options & Certificates of Authenticity Are Below! Historical reports may be beautiful or ugly, but they are always informative. While we rejoice in the beautiful (heroic, discovery, amazing feats, etc.), we at Historys Newsstand also offer "the ugly" for we are determined to learn from the wrongs of the past - understanding, to do so, we must be willing to look these wrongs directly in the face and shout "NO MORE!". It is for this reason many Black Americans collect historic slave ads, Jews collect reports regarding the Holocaust, women collect coverage of the Womens Suffrage Movement, etc.. If you find any to be offensive, we agree! Hopefully this is an indication we are moving in the right direction. Domestic Shipping Policy... For this specific item, A U.S. winner pays $10.00 S&H.
