Description: Award-winning Amaryllis belladonna (Belladonna Lily) is a bulbous perennial featuring large clusters of up to 4-12 scented, trumpet-shaped, pink flowers, 4 in. long (10 cm), per flower stalk. Elegantly protruding from each flower is a long upturned style amongst a group of large curved anthers. Amaryllis belladonna in its natural habitat is found in small dense groups among rocks. Therefore the best place to plant them would be in a rock garden. In a created landscape, Amaryllis can be used mixed in between blue Agapanthus as a good combination, as the evergreen leaves of the Agapanthus provide skirts for the naked ladies. Amaryllis belladonna is the true amaryllis, although the name is also commonly given to unrelated hippeastrum bulbs, which are grown indoors over winter. Amaryllis belladonna is a late-summer flowering bulb, bearing showy flowers on naked stems, before strap-like leaves appear in autumn. Grow it in large clumps, where its flowers can be fully appreciated. Unlike indoor amaryllis, the Amaryllis Belladonna can be planted outdoors and blooms during the summer. Plant these bulbs in warm, dry, well drained soil and expose them to full or partial sun for best results. These critter resistant bulbs can be planted in gardening beds and containers and will produce fragrant pink blossoms. SHIPS BARE ROOT FROM HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA ~ SEE STORE FOR MORE ITEMS
