Description: Alvin Cullum York [1887 1964] better known as Sergeant York was one of the most decorated American soldiers during World War I who was awarded the Medal of Honor. Sergeant York received his award for his actions during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in France. During the offensive Sergeant York lead an attack on a German machine gun nest which resulted in the destruction of the machine gun nest, the recovery of 32 machine guns, the killing of 20 German soldiers and the capture of 132 others. Listed for auction is a [DS] document signed by Alvin Cullum York. The document is a check drawn upon the Union Bank, Jamestown, Tenn, dated Jan 26, 1937, and is signed ''Sgt. Alvin C. York ''. The check is completed in his hand, measures 6.25 x 2.75 inches and is in fine condition with trivial wear The autograph is authentic, and the check is ideal for display.
