Description: Alpha lipoic acid is a very mild acid that is an anti-oxidant that works in fat and water environments with an antioxidant ability above both vitamin C and vitamin E at around 400x more. If alpha lipoic acid is put into water it stays crystalline and gritty. If alpha lipoic acid is put into fat a similar result occurs. To get alpha lipoic acid nano in size in water and oil requires certain parameters to be met. This was successfully accomplished and ingredients are on the label. People don't regularly offer concentrations that are used in trials and my guess they have issue with emulsifying it. A lot of products just say some alpha lipoic acid is in the product, but it is not listed if this a usable percentage. The consistency is that of a lotion with glycerin of 5% in it. This is the maximum amount of alpha lipoic acid and the results will be noticed within a week. At 5%, alpha lipoic acid will cause increase blood flow to the skin and this may result in tingling that lasts for around 20 minutes the first time. After a few applications this will not occur very much anymore as the skin is normalized to have increased blood flow all the time. Don't apply on the eye lids and keep applications very thin as a little goes a long way.Always do a patch test first. The other non active carrier ingredients are there to make alpha lipoic acid into a nano size so it is able to be available for the skin. Penetration of the active ingredient is not an issue for this lotion.
