ABRAHAM LINCOLN Presidential Election Elected 1860 Washington D.C. Newspaper

Description: ABRAHAM LINCOLN Presidential Election Elected 1860 Washington D.C. Newspaper Offered is an original, collectible newspaper (NOT a copy/reproduction): DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Nov. 8, 1860  * Abraham Lincoln elected * Presidential election Perhaps the best newspaper to have with news on any Presidential election, being from the nation's capital. Page 3 has a report headed: "The Presidential Election" which notes: "From the telegraphic reports of the Presidential election received since our last publication, the reader will learn nothing which materially changes the result as announced yesterday morning. It would seem probable that Mr. Lincoln has carried all of the non-slaveholding states on the Atlantic slope, with the exception of New Jersey which is reported to have given a majority for the Union ticket. With regard to the Southern States the returns are as yet too limited and too indefinite to admit of any thing more than calculations of probabilities as to the candidates for whom they have severally voted." What follows are reports from 9 states, and then: "Lincoln's Election in the South" reporting on the news in Charleston. Over two-thirds of page 3 is taken up with a very lengthy & detailed editorial headed: "Wise Counsels From the Right Quarter" which concerns the election. Four pages, large folio size, damp staining at the blank spine margin, nice condition. Please Note: All of our offerings are 100% authentic! We do not offer reprints or reproductions of any kind. They are guaranteed to be original! Links to Archival Storage Options & Certificates of Authenticity Are Below! Historical reports may be beautiful or ugly, but they are always informative. While we rejoice in the beautiful (heroic, discovery, amazing feats, etc.), we at Historys Newsstand also offer "the ugly" for we are determined to learn from the wrongs of the past - understanding, to do so, we must be willing to look these wrongs directly in the face and shout "NO MORE!". It is for this reason many Black Americans collect historic slave ads, Jews collect reports regarding the Holocaust, women collect coverage of the Womens Suffrage Movement, etc.. If you find any to be offensive, we agree! Hopefully this is an indication we are moving in the right direction. Domestic Shipping Policy... For this specific item, A U.S. winner pays $10.00 S&H.
