A reawakening of this style of music that was so important for the African-American self-confidence and which describes a new feeling of life on the Caribbean island with its Afro/Cuban interpretations. An unmistakable Cuban style, and yet a surprise, because this fusion from the Casas de la Musica is unknown and original in its own right. Roberto Santamaria lives with every fibre of his body in this music and so it transforms as Cuban through and through - this connection makes the project unique. 'The Cuban Soul Train' begins as a stage show in the style of the 70s and develops into a dance party with Salsa, Merengue, Raggaeton, and Cha Cha rhythms. The highlight of every live performance comes with 'Papaya', a Songo-Rap creation of its own, which seduces the audience to ecstatic dance with the typically creative free-form smart ambiguous phrasing of Cuban songs. Those who board this Cuban train discover an old world with new eyes. Cuban musicians whom were also involved in the arrangements: Nicholas Sirgado, studio owner as well as a famous Cuban guitarist and bassist of classical modern music styles plus musical director of Conexion Cubana, formerly Soneros de Verdad. Livan Morejon, a long-time friend of Roberto, who played with Irakere co-founder Oscar Valdes in his Afro-Cuban jazz band Diakara, and today at Leyendas.com, which is known for traditional Cuban music in the style of Buena Vista Social Club. Dany Labana Martinez, the Cuban Jimmy Hendrix, was responsible for the sophisticated fine-tuning of production, mixing, and mastering. The recordings took place at the Plaza de la Revolucion in Havana in Nicholas' studio. With the enthusiastic recommendations of Juan de Marcos, bandleader of the Afro Cuban All Stars and father of the Buena Vista Social Club.
