These magazines are in English and were published in the United States as a spinoff of The Advocate, a gay new magazine, to compete with popular titles like Torso, Playguy, In Touch and Mandate. At the time of its mid 1980's debut, the publication was called Advocate Men. Within a few years "Advocate" was dropped and it became known simply as Men Magazine.
