2 R. ATKINSON FOX~ORIGINAL PRINTs~Orig Art Deco FRAME Nature’s Retreat + other

Description: This listing is for 2 Robert Atkinsons Fox Art Deco framed prints from the mid 1920's in excellent vintage condition and their hand-made wood frames with gesso corner decorations is in very good vintage condition too with nice age patina of the original gold finish to a deep bronze color, and hand-painted. Both prints are signed R. Atkinson Fox on lower right corner. Old wavy glass covers the print and the backer is original as are the wire hangers, one is torn and needs repair. is a replacement. The overall size of the Nature’s Retreat piece is 24" by 16". The second print is: • The print is 22" by 14" (the proper size) and I've added photos of the pages of two collectors books relevant to this print. The print is strongly signed in the plate lower right and publisher marked lower left (see closeup photos that also shows detail of the gesso embellishments on the frame corners). There is a tiny spot upper left in the trees that shows under 10x magnification as a spot of orange color. It is likely a bit of ink deposited during the original printing process. • The print shows no stains, or damage and the color is very good for a print that is usually quite faded. Also it is bright without the darkening from aging wood pulp paper. The publishers Morris & Bendien used quality inks and put plenty on the paper, hence the great visual quality of the print after nearly a century. • R. Atkinson Fox only used his signature (and not a pseudonym) for the paintings he thought passed muster and this image was signed as strongly and with his most attractive style as any of his favored paintings.
