Description: You know that expression, 'Rode hard and put away wet'?! Well, that's this book. My uncle had a long life with the ocean. When he was a boy he sailed with his family to Hawaii and he had to be the one to sail back when his dad was too 'sick' (alcoholic) to do so. My uncle was a life guard at a California beach, was in the navy, was a marine biologist even during retirement, and lived within walking distance to the ocean. The book had a long life with my uncle who has now passed. The book looks haggard and is still ready to keep going strong and pass on knowledge to another person. This book is a first edition, second printing of "The History of American Sailing Ships". It has a lot of information and amazing illustrations. The majority of the pages are in good condition with no writing or discoloration. The book has humidity damage and it shows lightly on some pages and more so on other pages. The page edges show the damage along with the cover. The cover has discoloration and wear. See photos for conditions. Book is being sold as is.
