Description: Up for sale, a Fender PJ Bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a molded hardshell case. This versatile amalgamation combines the body of a mid-1970s Fender Precision Bass, routed to accommodate a PJ pickup configuration, and a satin-finished USA Custom Guitars neck. The traditional tonewood complement of an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard results in an resonant, warm acoustic tone with good articulation, faithfully captured by the Lindy Fralin PJ pickup complement. It’s a decidedly versatile setup, providing both the ample thump and heft of a split coil Precision neck pickup and the midrange cut and articulation of a "Split Jazz" pickup at the bridge, The Split Jazz features two coils placed side-by-side, offering hum-cancelling functionality and a slightly fatter-sounding take on the Jazz Bass pickup. This Precision Bass weighs 8lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation. The USA Custom Guitars maple neck has a substantial C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .860” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard is a notably dark cut, with dot inlay and flawless medium jumbo fretwire. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the Hipshot Ultralight tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with clean chrome-plated clover buttons. All of the electronics function as intended; both Lindy Fralin pickups have black fiber bobbins and cloth-covered leads, governed by a Master Tone control with independent Volume knobs for the pickups. The harness features cloth-covered leads and 500K CTS pots. The chrome-plated hardware is all notably clean, including the dome-topped knurled knobs and Hipshot A Style bridge. A modern three-ply black pickguard rounds out the plastics. The genuine vintage 1970s Fender Precision Bass body retains its original three-tone Sunburst gloss finish, exhibiting tight horizontal finish checking and some modest chipping where the forearm crosses the top. There is an area of buckle rash on the back central to the upper bout, and a number of additional finish scuffs and minor marks on the body as a whole. In contrast, the smooth satin finish on the neck profile is flawless. A Gator-brand molded hardshell case is included.
