"Morris Katz was born in Poland in 1932, and at age 13 studied art under Hans Fokler of the Munich Academy, one of Germany’s most prestigious Art Schools. Katz made his way to America in 1949, landing a job in New York as a budding carpenter while honing his skills as a painter." The board in back shows that the piece was purchase from the Morris Katz Art Studio and Gallery, 406 6th Ave, New York, NY. Wonderful find in a collector's estate. Although the care of her things were not the best after her passing, this shows some soiling at the bottom and minor flaking below signature.
