1970 Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 Red Writing

Description: This vintage 1970 Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 features a Rolex supplied red writing service dial only reserved for original red dial models that the dial has faded. Only supplied with a full service from the factory. Rolex provided service dials either just marked “Swiss” or even rarer Luminova dials marked as Tritium “Swiss T>25” which is this watch. I added a couple shots off the internet showing similar marked service dial watches. Steel 40mm case, very nice thick case and lugs (shoulders) black bezel, with luminous hands and index markers. The unidirectional rotating bezel is made of stainless steel and has the original factory insert, with a 60 minutes elapsed time indicator and chronometer rating. The bezel is extremely tight to turn, most likely build up of dirt over the years. It’s an easy fix but the fact it stays in the correct position it seemed unnecessary to clean. The watch is water-resistant and has a self-winding movement, with a solid case back and stainless steel bracelet reference 93150 G date code. Bracelet is also in nice condition with some surface scratches that would be expected from a vintage piece. The clasp and safety buckle are both a nice tight fit and snap closed. The overall condition is excellent for this very rare year model, some surface scratches but nothing that should bother anyone. Red Subs were made from 1967 through early 70’s. The red dial is marked Swiss-T>25, which Rolex did especially for this rare service dial. Comes with an acrylic crystal. The reference number is 1680, with a serial number of 2413*** This is watch only but will be sent in a nice leather travel case.
