1961 January 29 Tulsa World Sunday Comic section - interesting times!

Description: The Tulsa World Jan 29, 1961 color comic section has some great old comics. It was a different time. Little Orphan Annie was still the headliner. I don't even know when that comic first came out - the 1800's? lol. Then there appears to another antique - Little Joe - probably would be considered racist these days. On the back we have good old Beetle Bailey by the REAL Mort Walker, some soap opera called "Jane Arden" and the long running Judge Parker. On the inside we have Dondi - a strip about an orphan and his travails. And I didn't mean 'travels' - it's about him being a WW2 orphan except that in the three decades it ran he never ages and he becomes an orphan in future wars somehow. Maybe a sad commentary on the military industrial complex. Then there is Hi and Lois. Actually it's kind of funny - it's about pollsters push their agenda perhaps? Then there is Rex Morgan MD. Which is basically the same strip as Judge Parker. And about as interesting. Then we get to the really funny stuff. A 'future' series - showing "Closer than we think!" - "Glassed in downtowns with AIRCAR ramps and moving sidewalks." I wonder when this is going to happen? There is a creepy elderly lady wearing what appears to be her 50 year old debutante dress in it. Then there is the Archie strip - and it's actually kind of humorous. The last one - Jackys Diary - is a strip where an artist pretends to be 5 or something and draws funny things. It's totally racist and inappropriate. But I did like the reference to a 'famous indian...called Manhattan Dandy...who got famous because he wooden eat his supper'. This was pretty insensitive of the artist - considering Mahatma Gandi, the political activist who preached peaceful non-compliance with their overlords the British, was brutally assassinated in 1948. Like all men who preach peace - he was murdered, just like Jesus, MLK, JFK, and Bobby Kennedy. Jackys Diary was eventually brutally murdered also - or well - it was dropped from circulation for being 'too expensive' - https://www.toonopedia.com/jackys.htm
