Deineka “Nikitka - the first Russian flyer” is a painting by Alexander Deineka, painted in 1940. The plot of the film is based on a beautiful legend about the Russian Icarus, who jumped in front of the eyes of Ivan the Terrible from the Crucifixion Bell Tower in Aleksandrovskaya Sloboda. According to legend, Nikita made wooden wings, coated them with wax, rolled them in down, and “like a bird” flew from the Raspyatskaya Bell Tower. The flight turned out to be successful: having flown over the fortress wall, Nikita landed on the banks of the Seraya River. The painting is in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
