Offered here is a well-executed COMPLETE* TEAM SET of cards. It is clearly marked REPRINT 1986 and is affordable by nearly all! It was issued more than three decades ago (in 1986) by an unidentified reprinter - possibly the venerable Card Collector's Co., longtime supplier of sports hobby goods and accessories. Card size of these reprints is approximately 2-1/2" by 3-1/8" - same size as the Philadelphia gum company's originals. Cards this size fit in commonly available standard 9-pocket top-loading collector sheets for easy and safe viewing. A collecting Tip: Before buying any team reprint set, check the seller's listing carefully to learn what is (and is not) included. Sometimes partial sets, near-sets or superstars-only sets are offered. This TEAM SET features every contemporary member's card from this team that was included in the 1940 Gum, Inc. card set. It is comprised of players based on the team name indicated on the reverse side of the card - not necessarily as pictured. The reverse side, in some cases, contained team changes reflecting up-to-the-moment trades whereas the front may not. *Who's Included & Who's Not? All cards included in this complete team set are shown in the scan(s). The 1940 Gum, Inc. Play Ball set included 32 FORMER Major League stars who often played for multiple teams making it difficult to impossible to include them with their "right" team. Accordingly, cards for these "Former Major League Stars" are not included in team reprint sets unless they were current (1940) managers or coaches for the team. For example, such players as Casey Stengel and Honus Wagner are included with their teams, the Bees [Braves] and Pirates, respectively, since in 1940 they were manager and coach. Conversely, recently retired Tony Lazzeri and emeritus ballplayers such as Christy Mathewson, Home Run Baker and Tris Speaker are not included with their primary teams, the Giants, A's and Indians.
