Description: 1930 Press Photo E.R. Kirby and L.M. Thompson Escape Jail in Ensenada, CA This is an original press photo. Ensenada, Lower California.....Four Americans, 3 of them deserters from the U.S. Army, and the other an ex-soldier; were shot to death after a running battle with the police when they sawed the bars of the jail here, and escaped after killing the watchman. They met death on the Tijuana Ensenada Highway. The men convicted were members of a highway bandit gang and were captured several weeks ago. The deserters had come from the Monterey, CA, post. Photo shows E.R. Kirby, of NYC, and L.M. Thompson of Canada. Photo measures 6.5 x 8.75 inches. Photo is dated 10-17-1930.
