Description: Original 1862 hand signed “One Dollar” note issued by “Bank of the State of South Carolina” in Charleston, South Carolina. The note was engraved by “Bald Adams & Co. New York” and has the hand inscribed serial number “6219”. The central vignette is of the State House. It has the red "One" overprint. Original lead bullets excavated from the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Battlefields near Fredericksburg, Virginia. The 1864 battles were the beginning of General Grant’s “Overland Campaign” to take Richmond. From left they are a fired .57 Confederate Enfield rifle, a dropped .58 Federal round for the Springfield Rifle and a fired .58 rifle that could have been used by either side. They are mounted in an 8” x 12” Riker style case with glass front. All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated.
