This is a significant memento of United States political and social history, with a young and unbearded portrait of the future “Emancipator” as bonus ! Made of a gilt brass frame together to form a hollow pendant and pierced to hung from a ribbon . Each side has sharp tintype portraits of the candidates. On one side: “ ABRAHAM LINCOLN “ 1860, below, with flanking laural sprays . The other side is similar but with Vice - Presidential nominee, “ HANNIBAL HAMLIN “, looking distinguished, Intact, and Very Fine . Hamlin’s portrait excellent, Lincoln’s with slight tintype craguelure to the lower left side of the token that DOES NOT interfere with the face image, his eyes, mouth, and expression remain sharp and clear. PLEASE NOTE : The flaw on the left side of the Lincoln token is a loss of emulsion and is not corrosion or rust. I’ve owned this fantastic 1860 Lincoln/ Hamlin token since 2005 ( 19 years) and the above mentioned flaw has always been the same and unchanged. The token measures 24 mm ( 15/16 “. ) and is in excellent condition considering its age. This token is sure to impress.
