Signed in the plate in old ink by the Russian Admiral Mikhail Lazarev, fleet commander, explorer, who took part in the discovery of Antarctica and numerous islands. Most likely presented to Lazarev by Captain Sir Henry Duncan, commander of the British frigate HMS Liffey, who visited the Russian ship “Mirny” on June 18, 1821, during the First Russian Antarctic Expedition under the direction of Fabian Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev.
