17th century RARE trapunto for Indian for Portuguese market late 1600's to Earl

One of the most rare and fascinating quilts I've ever had the privilege of finding. This quilt has been attributed to India for the Portuguese market and most likely dates from the late 1600's. This quilt was show to Linda Eaton of Winterthur and she agreed with my assessment. I've shown it to a few of my other colleagues who also concur. Further research is required, a pleasure for any scholar!~ This quilt was purchased in America and was purchased from the home of a woman that had traveled to Europe searching for antiques. It was thought to have been brought back in the 1930's. This quilt is a whole cloth trapunto bed cover with one side a deep , rich gold tone and the other is an inconsistently faded blue side. . The hand stitching is intricate and immaculate. The front is a stunning gold silk and the backing is a pale blue silk. The stitching is in gold. Cotton was inserted between the layers to give depth to the remarkable hunting scene. quilt has been in my private collection for many years , I feel grateful to have owned it even for just a short time of it's rich and interesting life! ~Ideal for any collection or museum acquisition. Please message with any questions MEASUREMENTS : This rare textile measures 73 inches by 71 inches CONDITION: This textile is in a wonderful state of preservation for it's age. There is apparent fading on the blue side ( the back ) which would be consistent with it being folded in half and laid out on the base of a bed. There are a few small holes which can be hand repaired. There is a small tear on the right facing top corner. Generally, this textile is in fabulous condition for it's age however it is not without signs of time and use , often inherent in these antique textiles.
