Description: This is an original Early American newspaper from Boston, Massachusetts: "COLUMBIAN CENTINEL", dated "Satutrday, May 21, 1796". Size: approx. 12" by 18 1/2". 4 pages / 2 leaf. Only 1 page is on display in a professional mounted frame (Measures about 26" x 19"). Has some light "foxing"/staining and several small "edge-tears". Disbound from volume, neatly folded at center (which has been mounted flat). An interesting piece of Early Americana, with various news dispatches, including a treaty article about Native Americans, Treaty with Spain, Laws of the United States approved by the current president at the time George Washington, with his printed approval script (not hand signed). Not sure what other interesting history reads are on the other pages (I am half tempted to open it up to read the rest). Interesting information and history... not to mention how our ancestors wrote and spoke. Through the small tear at the top you can see some printing and there is a small tear near the center which looks like the the letters "S" and "E" printed on the page beneath it. Great 218-year-old newspaper! For more details, please tap the "about this item" section. Refer to the pics for cosmetic condition and to inspect exactly what you will be receiving.
