Description: The print offered here is an etching by Cesare Fantetti (active Florence 1660-1675) which was number 31 (see lower right corner within the platemark) of 55 plates in a work, published by de Rossi, called "Imagines Veteris Ac Novi Testamenti A Raphaele Sanctio Urbinate in Vaticani Palatii Xystis". The work was a reproduction of Raphael's frescoes in the Vatican. Fantetti did 37 of the plates and Pietro Aquila did the remaineder. This dramatic image shows Moses and the Israelites at the parting of the Red Sea. The measurements of the piece are height 10 in (Platemark) 16 in (Sheet); and width 12 3/4 in (Platemark) 16 7/8 in (Sheet). An album with all of the prints, including this one, is in the collection of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art at Accession No. 21.36.12(1-55). This particular print can be seen in the online collection of the British Museum at No. 1867,1012.442. This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions". For example, offered maps are of the period. Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
