If you would like to use the UP-61 primer surfacer as a sealer you can mix it 4 parts primer to 1 part activator to 1.5 parts reducer and apply 2-3 even coats. Can I use this primer on bare metal?This primer contains resins, and anti-corrosive pigments that do give it adhesion directly to steel and aluminum that has been properly sanded with P80-P220 and cleaned with a quality surface cleaner such as our SBWG. For maximum adhesion and corrosion protection our OxyStik Epoxy Primer is a better choice. Using OxyStik primer on bare metal followed by UP-61 primer surfacer you get maximum adhesion and corrosion resistance followed by the best filling and sanding product Can I Spray this really heavy with a 2.0-2.5mm fluid tip?This product can be applied with large fluid tips. However, application of heavy coats with large fluid tips increases the chances of solvent entrapment which can lead to poor sanding, and shrinkage over time as the solvent escapes. For best results, us a medium sized fluid tip of 1.5-1.8mm and apply medium wet coats to allow solvent to escape before curing.
