Description: This is a lovely old book about animals. The full title is: One Thousand and One Animal Anecdotes with instances of animal intelligence, anecdotes of strange friendships, animal amenities and antipathies, stories of dogs, cats, lions, tigers, and other mammals. There are sixteen original drawings and photographs by Winifred Austen and others. This book, although in a readable condition, is in a very worn condition. Those of you familiar with reading books of this age will be familiar with a number of these issues, but please do view the images and read the condition description (seller notes) in order to get a good idea of the condition of this book. However, there are a large number of imperfections. There are too many to mention them all. However, I will mention the most significant ones Firstly, it looks like the front endpaper has been torn out; see image 7 and a close-up of this in image 17. There is perhaps another page been torn out before the preface, or this might just be where there was gluing of pages as part of the original binding process; see image 18. There is an instance of partial cracking of the spine near the middle of the book; see image 19 and image 20 for a close-up of this. Most of the pages are clean, but there are several instances of moderate foxing of the pages; see the fourth-from-last and third-from-last images for examples of this. There are a few instances of creasing and mild tearing of the pages (see the last two images) but there is no tearing that involves the central areas of the pages."
